International Projects
Rotary Club of Breda Mark & Aa
One of the great strengths of Rotary is the opportunity it provides for international fellowship and at Vesper we have benefited greatly from our twinning links with the Rotary Club of Breda Mark & Aa.
Breda is a city in the North Brabant province of the Netherlands and RC Breda Mark & Aa were formed in 1990, the same year as Abingdon Vesper. We signed a formal twinning agreement in the early 1990s and since then members and families from both clubs have enjoyed many happy visits to our respective countries, with the two clubs supporting one another's major projects.
In 2004 we celebrated Rotary's centenary year together at a major dinner in Breda, where we were joined by Breda's Italian twin club from Roma di Castelli. Two years later the three clubs met up again in Brussels where we had the chance to visit NATO headquarters and the European Parliament.
The most recent visit was in April 2008 when we all met in Breda and visited the bulbfields and den Haag. At this meeting the presidents of the various clubs signed a formal statement of commitment to work together on the 3H project in Uganda.
